Are you over 17?: Yes, I am 25!
Characters in Forest Covered: I used to play Milly Thompson from Trigun here for a couple months, but I do not have any characters in FC as of right now.
( CHARACTER INFORMATION )
Name/Work Name: Aelita Stones, nee Hopper, nee Schaeffer / Púki (means elf, fairy in Icelandic)
Canon: Code Lyoko
Canon Point: Post episode 95
AU/CRAU: CRAU from Dangan Roleplay: Nick vs CN Gimmick Round, Golden Ending
Age: 14
History: This should be pretty thorough
Personality:
Aelita is a friendly and congenial young lady. She is observant and intelligent, and is unflappable in pursuit of her goals. She can be a bit sassy and snarky if the situation calls for it, but doesn’t act this way often, and is more often than not good-natured about her ribbing. Having lost most of her memory of her past, and believing herself to only be an AI for over a year, the few memories she does have are very important to her. She has an affinity for computer and electronic work, definitely stemming from her time aware and awake in the digital world of Lyoko. She also enjoys mixing music on turntables, having been taught some musical concepts as a young girl. Her father, the creator of Lyoko, gave her a love of Norse myth by reading it to her as a child, and while this is not terribly expanded upon in canon, it was strong enough for her to propose “Skidbladnir” as a name for the ship she helped code in order for herself and her friends to traverse the Digital Sea and the internet. One of the few treasured items from her past is a little elf doll named Mr. Puk, which means “goblin, mischievous sprite” – again, something her father suggested. Despite the turmoil his creations gave her and her friends, she misses him dearly and took to heart all that he taught her.
Those whom Aelita is friends with are incredibly close to her heart. They are, essentially, the only family she has left, and her only means to live a normal life – Jeremy, the boy who discovered her in Lyoko, worked tirelessly to materialize her in the real world and has provided pretty much all of the legal papers she needs in order to pass as a person without arousing suspicion. As much as she loves her friends, however, Aelita has always been willing to sacrifice herself for those she does not know. If it’s for the good and safety of others, her needs can wait. This is most exemplified by the series’ main goal: the eradication of the malevolent computer program XANA. Many times, XANA’s attempts and attacks on humanity have put innocent people in danger, and she has always been willing to give her all to stop them, even at the cost of her own life.
At the same time, Aelita is also a very vulnerable person. Being the only one who can essentially “turn off” XANA’s attacks, and later being the pivotal key to leading her friends through the Digital Sea and implementing various counterattacks, she is targeted by XANA almost constantly, whether being mobbed by monsters on Lyoko or physically assaulted and kidnapped by a XANA-possessed person in the real world, it has always been her target, and much of her time was spent running away with very little for her to protect herself with. There are also things that she is terrified of: wolves and government operatives haunt her nightmares from when her mother was kidnapped, and the Scephazoa, a special monster created by XANA to extract and implant data into her mind directly, are the only things that she cannot muster the courage to fight against.
Debt: Working off debt for a perceived sin – not being able to keep the death count to just one person (herself) in Week 4 of the Nick vs CN round. The motive – threatening a loved one with death – influenced her to attempt to commit suicide in order to make Monobear abandon the motive, but she got caught up in a fight and was murdered accidentally by Jade Chan. She feels responsible for Jade’s status as a culprit as well as the subsequent death of Beatrice, whom Jade was fighting.
Previous Game Info: You can see her progress in Nck vs CN here, but let me summarize it below. Be warned that this has spoilers for the round:
Aelita was one of twenty people kidnapped by a mysterious being called Monobear in order to participate in a “Game of Mutual Killing” in Monobear’s Home for Orphaned Bastards. Unsettled by the information present in her student profile, particularly information about Lyoko which was kept secret from everyone outside of her friend group, she nonetheless comes to befriend several of her fellow captives, most notably: Cat Noir and Marinette Dupain-Cheng, due to their shared home of Paris, France; Jinafire Long, out of respect for her cool head in their shared tense situation; and Sokka, for their shared experience being kidnapped and their desires to figure out what was going on and how to get everyone out of here. Unfortunately, she was cut off from these and several other students when a wall was erected to divide the house in half. She was able to get closer to the people on her side over the coming weeks, most notably Lapis Lazuli and Wirt, but she also became friendly with Vegeta Briefs, Muriel Bagge, Steven Universe, Jade Chan, and Beatrice, and advocated for Panda’s innocence until…well, until he got murdered by Daffy Duck.
When the murders began, and the motives came along, and more of the strange house opened up, Aelita did her best to extract information from wherever she could find it and support the people who she had made bonds with. After the first few days she began to keep a journal, chronicling the things she and others found out. The first motive exposed her and her side to the curses of Ramses’ slab, and she was unable to sleep properly for three nights, thus rendering her asleep during the first trial. She investigated the second floor on her side of the house thoroughly, and created transcripts of videos Sokka found that led to a better understanding of who used to live in this unusual house before Monobear showed up. This was a poignant moment not only for unraveling the mysteries of the house, but in Aelita’s relationship with Lapis – she was discovered with the tapes, and extended trust to Lapis, reinforcing her belief that in order to escape with as many people alive as possible, all of the kidnapped people needed to trust each other on some level. This trust she put in others was tested when, in the second trial, she watched in horror as Cat Noir, now with secret identity exposed, was found murdered and Jinafire proven to be the culprit. This was enough wearing down for the next motive to be particularly potent: Monobear claimed to have Jeremy, the boy who’d given her the world and whom she loved dearly, held hostage and in danger of being killed.
In keeping with her nature, Aelita was willing to do anything to save Jeremy – but she would not kill the other students. Instead, she got hold of a boquet of Larkspur Squidward Tentacles sent to Lapis and, on Thursday night, ate the flowers with the intention of committing suicide via poisoning, hoping that a death would make Monobear put a stop to the motive. Unfortunately, while looking for someplace to die in peace, she heard a fight happening on the third floor, and found Beatrice and Jade Chan beating the snot out of each other. Aelita rushed between them, trying to intervene, but Jade tossed her away, and Aelita’s head hit the corner of a table. She quickly bled to death.
In Deadland, she was able to see her dead friends and speak to them, and even reconcile with Jade after she was executed, having felt that Jade and Beatrice’s deaths were due to her not being able to stop them in time. In the moments leading up to and during the final trial, she worked with her fellows to help the living students smoke out the mastermind, and with his defeat they were all able to be brought back to life again, reuniting the killed with the living and with the relief that the Game of Mutual Killing was over.
Inventory: Just the clothes on her back. You don’t get to bring cool shit with you to Deadland.
Abilities: Aelita is incredibly intelligent, having spent one conscious year of her life as a virtual being and believing herself to be an AI for some time. She is very skilled with writing and executing computer programs, and is handy at fixing electronics even if she has never seen the likes of them before. She has an affinity for music, having been taught some piano at a young age, and is skilled at DJing at mixing tables, so much so that she auditioned and was picked to open for a popular band at a concert – and she was a hit!
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths
- Resourceful, able to think on her feet and stall for time if needed just by taking a look at her surroundings. One of the best examples of this in her canon is when she had to convince two friends to come with her and set things right when their perception of reality is flipped. In DRRP, she took note of everything strange she found and learned from others, and even planned ahead for her possible death for her notes to be kept in good hands.
- Incredible mental capabilities, curious, and quick to learn new tasks. Lived as an AI for over a year and spent a decade beforehand in suspended sleep in a super computer, so the sheer amount of accessible information definitely rubbed off on her.
- Takes her goals and work seriously, never backing down from doing things for the overall good of others. Only once, at the end of the series, did she express any sort of regret over fighting XANA, and that was because her father sacrificed himself in order for them to succeed once and for all.
- Knows how to ask for help when she needs it and cannot do something herself – a very humble kind of strength. Could not fight for at least half of the series and had to know when to hide, when to pull back, when to reach out for help, or else she would have died.
- On the other hand, she is also very brave, prone to taking initiative when those she cares about are in danger. Will scout ahead, serve as a distraction, and throw her all into confrontations on Lyoko if she is the only person around to do so.
Weaknesses
- Prone to being cornered and captured even when putting up a fight, and easily incapacitated or immobilized by fear, so not very physically strong.
- Self-sacrificing to a fault; repeatedly putting her life at risk both in canon and being a large motivator in her attempted suicide and interference with the murder for Case 3 of Nick vs CN.
- Terrified of wolves and Men In Black-esque operatives, stemming from the events surrounding her mother’s kidnapping and her escape with her father into the digital world of Lyoko.
- Ignorance and selfishness in others is something she absolutely despises, and gives her cause to be guarded and cold towards those who display such traits. Not even friends are immune to this treatment, though with time she can forgive them; numerous times in canon she has been frustrated with Jeremy’s treatment of her wants and desires to live life to the fullest, but they do always make up in the end.
- The love she feels for her friends can drag her into depression when they are taken away from her. She worried and talked of her friends at home often in Nick vs CN, and whenever someone she liked was killed, it saddened her deeply. This trend continued even in deadland, with (almost) each murdered or executed person bringing her more guilt and sadness whenever they showed up.
